THE ARCHIVE HERITAGE FOUNDATION LTD.

Business Number: 7031055163

The Archive Heritage Foundation Ltd. is a registered Alberta based non-profit foundation created to develop cultural dissemination technology and produce interactive media for digital archives. From web-based archival projects and historical documentaries to the invention of "The Archive"—a personal interactive digital server—the foundation is at the forefront of preserving and championing the rich heritage of Canada.

Our flagship program, the Blackfoot Archive, represents the newest and most extensive iteration of our preservation platform. Scheduled for its third major update in the Spring of 2026, this resource is currently utilized by educators and cultural leaders throughout the Blackfoot Nation to safeguard wisdom, treaties, and locally produced documentaries.

By bridging scientific precision with a passion for historical stewardship, we ensure that the world's diverse legacies remain interactive and accessible for future generations.

Our Mission

The Archive Heritage Foundation is dedicated to empowering communities through the intersection of advanced media technology and historical stewardship. Our mission is to provide secure, interactive platforms that safeguard cultural legacies—ensuring that ancestral wisdom, language, and history remain privately protected and accessible for all future generations.

The Personal Archive

The Personal Archive is a portable personal password protected  flash drive that can work with any computer, allowing for internet free  access to an interactive  cultural database of books, films, maps, interviews and teaching aids.

Why Create the Archive?

Many minority and Indigenous communities lack a secure, centralized repository to consolidate their media and generational wisdom. Traditional cloud-based solutions often fail to provide the absolute privacy and data sovereignty required for sensitive cultural materials. The Archive was created to bridge this gap, offering a private, offline server at no cost, that puts the power of historical stewardship back into the hands of the community.

How Did this Start?

The first archive was a pilot program  created by Philip Spink and Dr. Zuzana Novak under the guidance of Chief Roy Fox of the Blood Tribe, and Dr. Genevieve Fox, Education Director at the Blackfoot Confederacy Tribal counsel,  with  sponsorship from  Brian Schmidt (Aakaikkitstakii) CEO of Tamarack Valley Energy. This pilot program serves as a  digital  library for community media and  long form interactive interviews with Elders and Knowledge keepers.   This technology was used to create the Blackfoot Archive under the supervision of Dr. Genevieve Fox  which serves the Blackfoot diaspora throughout Central Canada.

Where is this project going?

The Archive Heritage Foundation is in discussions with communities, organizations and involved citizens throughout Western Canada to act as a cultural library shelf for priceless knowledge and as a way to increase access. cultures and traditions.

     From Vision to Foundation

    The Genesis (2009–2019)
The roots of the Archive Heritage Foundation trace back to 2009, when Philip Spink collaborated with Tamarack Valley Energy to produce media for the Blood Tribe in Southern Alberta. Through direct interaction with Blood Tribe Elders, Philip recognized a critical gap: the community lacked a secure, centralized repository for their most vital records—Treaties, books, films, and sacred cultural ceremonies—that could be accessed privately, without the need for internet in remote areas.

Philip partnered with Dr. Zuzana Novak, Ph.D. who provided the wellness guidance and administrative framework necessary to ground the project,  recognizing that cultural preservation is a cornerstone of community health and well-being.

Philip drew upon security practices from the aerospace industry wellness guidance and administrative framework necessary to ground the project recognizing that cultural preservation is a cornerstone of community health and well-being and sensitive community knowledge, shielded from hackers and unwelcome viewers.
